How do I get rid of a shiny iron mark on my polyester dress (around the black collar)?
You can't. You've scorched the material because your iron was too hot. On most irons there are fabric selections for different temperature settings, choose the one that says "Polyester" and keep the steam either off or very low. Don't hold the iron in one spot for too long. Polyester usually doesn't need much ironing because it's a synthetic material.
If you know how to sew and are able to get the same type of material, you can replace the section that is burned. For a normal, 2 layer collar, take the stitching out of the neck band (typically this is in most collared tops, if not then take the stitching out from top back seam across the back of the neck). Take apart the collar piece itself, then stitch the new piece of frabic on, then stitch this back into the neck band or back of dress.
